Ah...Makoto Shinkai, also known as the "new Miyazaki", is one animator/director you should really check out. All of his films deal with the hardships of separation and they ALL contain a deep plot. His animation style is also very wonderful and rich in texture, there are not many like it. I first saw one of his works about a year ago by accident and fell in love with his work, i also felt that more people should know about him. Now, because of AMVs, everyone knows about him XD if you haven't seen any of his films, you better do so quick, or else...

I've only seen 5cm...I know, I suck. But I shall now plunder the earth for his other works, plus his "secret" ones lol: Shinkai truly is the next Hayao Miyazaki.
